Personnel and structural decisions

Roto Frank AG has reported an expansion of the top management. As the family-owned construction supplier announced, the supervisory board has appointed Leonhard Braig as Technology Director on the board of directors of the window and door technology division with effect from the 1st of January 2009. In his new function with the technology, production, logistics, design and development sectors, the 39-year old graduate engineer is responsible for a comprehensive scope of duties in the worldwide-operating company.

In its decision, the supervisory board takes into account the great importance of the diverse field of activity for the innovation and competitive ability of the manufacturer, according to its chairman, Dr. Michael Stahl. At the same time, it recognises the “distinguished work” of Braig, who began his career at Roto in 2003 as production manager of the Leinfelden-Echterdingen production plant. Since 2005, he has belonged to the management of the window and door technology division as group executive manager of production and technology.

The Roto company group, with an annual turnover of more than 600 million euros, is now managed by a board of directors comprising of four. The members are Dr. Eckhard Keill (CEO), Michael Stangier (CFO), Erich Rosenkranz (responsible for the Roof and Solar Technology Division), and now Leonhard Braig.

Central Europe example

At the same time, Roto reported on structural and personnel modifications in the Western business division of the window and door technology division, led by Christoph Hugenberg. The background to the new measures, which will mostly take effect on the 1st of March 2009, is the current and foreseeable world economical developments that required “rapid and convincing reactions”. Growth potentials ascertained in the new international markets will be resolutely exploited, while the market cultivation in existing markets will be undertaken even more efficiently.

An example of the differentiated reorganisation steps is the Central Europe region, which includes Germany. Here, the position of the market director passes on the 1st of March 2009 from Klaus Knops to Fitschen Volker. With his 16 years of experience in Roto, he advocates customer support that is “competent in every respect” and can rely on an experienced team of staff.

In addition, Scandinavia is to be removed from the Central Europe market and integrated into the Western Europe region. This decision is based on the expectation of being able to fulfil the “very specific” hardware demands in Scandinavia even more purposefully.

Strategic result

Roto classifies Central and Southern America as a market with “above-average prospects”. The international market leader in Tilt&Turn hardware is currently represented here by two subsidiaries and also advises customers through the Spanish organisation. For the complete utilisation of the “completely realistic growth opportunities”, one needs however a permanent “on-site presence”.

The result: Central and Southern America receives the status of a new, independent market region. Klaus Knops takes on the responsibility for it. His international work experience qualifies him for the important task just as his comprehensive Roto know-how does. Hugenberg: “This continues our principle, already successful in Russia and China, of entrusting proven managers from our own ranks with the building-up and expansion of important future markets.”

With this and further measures in individual markets, the branded company wants to permanently strengthen its position in the Western business division. The relevance of the Italian market must also be taken into account here. The personnel course here has been set with Stephan Hettwer, who will serve as general manager of the local subsidiary from the 1st of February 2009.
